Board of Directors
Ballarat Grammar is incorporated as a Company Limited by Guarantee and is governed by a Board of 12 Directors with a Company membership of 25. The Bishop of Ballarat is the President and the ceremonial and spiritual leader of the School.
The Board of 12 Directors is made up as follows:
- Ex Officio, the Archdeacon of Ballarat
- 4 Directors nominated by the Board
- 5 Directors nominated by the Bishop-in-Council
- 1 Director nominated by Friends of Grammar
- 1 Director nominated by the Ballarat & Queen’s Old Grammarians’ Association
- The Headmaster and Business Manager are entitled to attend all Board meetings in a consultative capacity unless otherwise determined by the Board

The Hon Rob Knowles is a highly experienced Chairman with extensive knowledge in governance and a special interest in public administration and social policy. He currently holds office as Chairman of Royal Children’s Hospital and as Patron of Museum of Australian Democracy at Eureka.

In his Ex-Officio position as Archdeacon and Dean of Ballarat, Fr Chris serves on various Diocesan committees and has special interests in governance, technology and the Music Program at Grammar.

Dr Mackay has a strong background in Applied Economics, Business IT and tertiary teaching. He is a commercial pilot and aviation instructor and has significant experience in agriculture and Board governance.
